Congratulations Airman Simonson on your graduation from Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX. We are all very proud of you.

Tyson graduated from Basic Training this last weekend and the little ones and I drove the 12 hours to San Antonio on Wednesday to join him on Thursday for the first of many ceremonies, the last of which was the graduation parade on Friday. Tyson was up for honor grad and received his marksman ribbon. He is thrilled that he received the job he coveted so much. He will go to training in Wichita Falls, TX for crew chief on F-15 fighters. In two years the F-15 will be phased out and he will do some additional training to become a crew chief on the F-22 Raptor. He is so thrilled. When he leaves Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls he will do some training in Florida at Tindall AFB before being sent to his first assignment. One benefit of being a crew chief is getting your name on the plane just like the pilot AND with this training and a bachelor's degree he is eligible to become a pilot. Tyson seemed to really enjoy his new life and the confidence he has acquired is very noticeable. We love to see him that way.
San Antonio has a lot to offer in regards to entertainment but the road configurations and traffic signs leave a lot to be desired. By the time you see where you want to go, the exit is behind you. There are access roads everywhere and they are a pain. I've never seen such an idiotic set-up in my life. Anyway. The first night Tyson was allowed
off base we went to the San Antonio River Walk and the Alamo, followed by a WNBA game at AT&T center. On Saturday we went to Sea World. Sunday we attended church service on base and had lunch with Tyson before, yet another, 12 hour drive home. We arrived home around 2 AM today. The USPS called at 7 AM and asked me to work for Dee since she had broken her wrist so I've had little rest. I will be working for the next 1-2 weeks. I'm tired.
